Leviathan Robotics: FRC Team 6883
Leviathan Robotics is the only FIRST Robotics Competition team in Sonoma County to include members from multiple schools. Our team provides hands-on mechanical, electrical, programming, and business experience that is not available through the typical curriculum at most schools. We have made new friends, found adult mentors to teach us new skills, and learned to work together efficiently with respect for all members of the team.

Lessons Learned
Over the course of our year as a rookie team we've learned many
that will help not only graduating members, but next year's teams.
Here are some of the most important ones:
Be open to new and “weird” ideas, they just might work
Communicate and share knowledge with other teams, especially older, well established teams
Having a social presence at events and online is a crucial element of competing, both for when things go wrong and when they go right
Understand that even if you don’t know what to do, it’s better to ask someone who does than to try to stumble through it
When something isn't working systematically eliminate possible causes to isolate the issue
Explain what you are doing to someone, even if they have no expertise in the area,
because running through something helps reveal mistakes and oversights
Drive the robot in an open space away from breakable objects, including thin drywall
When competing, understand that every member of the team has it tough, especially the driver, and avoid blaming or stressing out other team members
The above also applies to alliance members as others might have a different specialty or strategy
Don’t limit grant and sponsorship efforts to pre or post season, you never know when something expensive will break
Bring snacks, everyone loves snacks
that will help not only graduating members, but next year's teams.
